This breaks a tie Kompon was in with two others who had also won two titles as assistants in the NHL.

That duo was Doug Jarvis and Barry Smith.

Jarvis accomplished his feat as an assistant with the Dallas Stars in 1999 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Smith meanwhile won multiple Cups with both the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins over a decade-long span starting in 1991.

As a head coach, Scotty Bowman is the only bench boss with win a trio of Stanley Cups with three different teams.

As a defenceman with the Andrews in 1983, Jamie Kompon (far right, middle row) helped them become the first team from Thunder Bay to medal, a bronze, at the then Air Canada National Midget Hockey Championship.

Involved in the game for over four decades, Kompon played his minor hockey in Thunder Bay, highlighted with helping the Andrews become the first Lakehead side to win a medal at the then Air Canada Cup national midget championship, with them capturing a bronze in 1983.
